Is Firefox 3.5 Crap?

I've been having trouble lately with Firefox constantly crashing on me.  Well, not crashing as such, but grinding to a complete halt.  When it consumes 100MB+ in memory, and constantly whirs the CPU at 25%-50%, you know something is amiss.  Seems like lots of others have a similar issue; perhaps its only within the poweruser community, as I use it every day very intensively, with many addons.  Its possible its an addon going haywire, and I suppose its always had memory issues with my default set of addons.
